Protein and calories
With the given amounts, you can make about 10 snack bars. By making one bar for a serve, you’ll get around 6g of protein and 175 calories.
Ingredients needed
- Oats: Rolled oats provide the complex carbs to these snack bars healthy. Oats are also rich in protein, which is essential as we are basically making the protein bars.
- Protein powder: not only helps to drive the protein content higher, it also gives the tasty flavour to this recipe. Although it’s an optional ingredient, I highly recommend adding it.
- Chocolate:It is important to use a dark chocolate bar instead of a regular chocolate bar to keep the sugar content lower. Dark chocolate is also healthier because of the higher amount of cocoa.
- Almond: For extra texture and extra protein.
- Raisin: Health source of sweetness.
- Desiccated coconut: For the flavour and some healthy fat.
Usha’s recipe tips
- If your rice bubbles or rice krispies are moist and not so crunchy, you can dry roast them in a pan.
- If you prefer sweeter flavour, choose a chocolate with 70% cocoa. If you want to lower the sugar content and don’t mind a bit stronger flavour, you can choose 90% one.
- You can use any nuts instead of almonds.
- If you don’t want raisins in you bars, you can replace with maple syrup or honey.
