This garlic chicken bites is a perfect example to show that it doesn’t take too many ingredients and a lot of time to cook something amazing.
As it’s a quick recipe, you can make it for a lunch or some afternoon snack. Kids also love its juicy texture and buttery flavour. It’s a healthier alternative to the deep fried chicken nuggets you usually get in fast food restaurants. Let them have with some ketchup / tomato sauce.
Protein and calories in this garlic chicken bites
It’s a healthy high protein dish that has almost 40g of protein in around 340 calories. The lean nature of the chicken breast keeps it lower in calories even with a significant amount of chicken and some butter.
If you are using chicken thigh fillet, I would recommend cutting the amount of butter to half as thigh fillets have higher fat content than chicken breast.
I have recently started making this recipe as a quick post workout meal.
Best flour to make these chicken bites
Make sure to use plain flour / all-purpose flour instead of cornstarch / corn flour for this recipe as cornstarch tends to make the chicken mushy in texture which we don’t want for now.
How to serve these chicken bites
This simple dish doesn’t really require much to serve with. It goes really well with some old school hot chilli sauce. I usually add some cucumber and carrots on side to make it more nutritious.
To make it a complete meal, you can add a toast on side. If you want to take it further, you can even make a chicken wrap with it by adding some avocado and lettuce.
Tips
If you are using salted butter, you may want to slightly reduce the amount of salt from the ingredient.
Do not cook in high heat as it burns the butter.
Leave the chicken outside of fridge for about 15 minutes after cutting them, if time allows. This will bring the chicken closer to the room temperature which helps it to be cooked consistently.
